The staff and I have to sit down and hammer out some new policies. In the past, Alli, Mike and I allowed new members into the team by geographic location and by executive privilege. We never were bound by the conventional rules on SG-Command.net. Now that site traffic on SG-C.net has dropped and we have this new site to consolidate the three former detachments into one larger team, we're going to make a few small changes.
Before the creation of this site, we added two new members to the command staff. (James and Gerry) The five of us have decided that just posting to the site and basically saying "Hi, I'm here" does not qualify for membership. Actually, it never did. Rather than one of the officers waving a magic wand and granting membership, we intend to set up a vetting process.
Anyone is welcome to visit this site and post in the public areas. Once membership is approved through the staff, access to other areas will be granted. The first step will be to apply or request membership. At the moment, we do not plan on drug screening, psychological exam, fingerprinting or a twelve page essay, but who knows.
During the brief relationship with scifihero.net, a few people expressed interest in joining before we were prepared for it. Once we get our policies in place, we wil look at those three individuals first, if they are still interested.
